Located in the historic Santa Barbara Fish Market building, the Lark is a must-see restaurant serving creative dishes with super-fresh ingredients as well as interesting cocktails. Adding to our rich experience, the vibrant scene and passionate staff (especially our server Thalia). Here’s what arrived at our table… My pick from the Handcrafted Cocktails menu was the Club Car Collins. With gin, St. Germain, lemon, and cucumber, I couldn’t go wrong. It was perfectly refreshing on the warm evening. Other cocktails on the table, starting at the top left: The Mule | John was disappointed they wouldn’t serve in a copper mug. Old Aztec | Martin liked the twist on the Old Fashioned with agave, orange and chocolate bitters. Rhubarb Greyhound Proper | Megan loved the flavors so much, she had two.
We started with a couple of items from the Snacks menu, the charcuterie board (because I LOVE charcuterie) and housemade pimento cheese. The charcuterie had more pickled vegetables than your typical dish but increased the WOW-factor in every bite. I’m starting to rethink how I serve charcuterie. And what a beautiful arrangement on the serving plank, don’t you think?
Another one From the Ocean, was hidden in the Israeli couscous (grilled Spanish octopus). Our final savory dish, from Platters menu, was an apricot and bourbon glazed pork shank with ancho chile corn bread. Yes, it was another WOW.
We probably lounged longer than most but couldn’t resist tasting their dessert offering. There were five on the table but my shutter only had enough energy for the s’more-like pots de crème and ice cream sandwich. Next time you’re in Santa Barbara, stop by the Lark. You won’t be disappointed.
