James Bond

Happy 50th Birthday and thank you and Ian Fleming for introducing me to Aston Martin, one of the finest designs ever made. Although my first love was the memorable DB5 in Goldfinger, I have long since stayed true to arguably the most beautiful car in the world, the DB4 GT Zagato. Breathtaking in every way. This will not be coming any time soon to a garage near me, but a girl can dream.

From cars to fashion to music, James Bond films have influenced so many areas of style and design. Who could forget the pre-fembot outfits and perfectly coiffed hair of famous femme fatales with names like Honey Ryder, Pussy Galore, Plenty, and Domino. They were the catwalk before it became vogue. And, what about the opening songs? Shirley Bassey, who performed most of the James Bond tracks, always set the right pace and mood for the film. She still has unparalleled vocals. That said, after listening to Adele’s Skyfall, she too is of similar caliber.

Finally, Sean Connery, you were simply the best (but Daniel Craig is a very very close second). As I hold up a virtual “shaken, not stirred” martini, Cheers to you James Bond!
